used to say, in times of old,

the US people had a government.

now that it's been bought and sold,

I declare, it's fair to say:

the government has you.

It puts the "totes" in totalitarian

then auctions them for votes;

often acts contrarian

and murders folks in boats.

Courts declare that it's fair game

taking off the threat of blame.

They're fascist freaks who think the same

just terrible turncoats.

they burn the plans and crush the workers

that were making machines run.

then they lie, install AI,

and deport kids for fun.

the support for this, razor thin

the MAGA sheep, they bray for him

and if you sleep, they surely win

so we must put them on the run.

everybody knows we're pissed

and by "we" I mean everyone.

even the losers who just wish

you and I were shot by police guns.

the general feeling that pervades:

"We'll vote them out, in retrograde"

but others argue quietly

it could be quite untidy.

There's no clear picture of the new way

we must represent;

but it's clear that if this crew stays

we will lose the present.
